Robotic Puppet with Micro:bit
How do we breathe "life" into cold hardware? This project merges Micro:bit technology with mechanical design to create interactive digital puppets. It is both an engineering challenge and an exploration into how technology acts as a new medium for human expression.
The Human Reflection
While machine movements are often rigid and repetitive, human expression is subtle and emotional. I lead learners to ask: How can physical movement convey feeling? By programming accelerometers and wireless signals, the puppet becomes a digital extension of human body language. We explore embodied movement—the threshold where a combination of parts becomes a character when guided by human intent.
Pedagogical Innovation
· The accompanying Teaching Plan tackles key STEAM education concepts:
· Digital-to-Physical: Translating abstract code logic into tangible actions.
· Character Design: Exploring how to use algorithms to simulate human pauses, hesitation, or fatigue.
